Dear Families,
At this time there is no indication there will be a large scale closure,
but as you all know new information becomes available hourly. The DOE is
planning to close schools if a student, parent or staff member is confirmed
to have COVID-19. However, the DOE and TNS are taking measures to minimize
interaction between people:
Trips:
-
All local field trips are canceled.
-
All domestic travel is canceled for the remainder of the year. This
means that Matt, Chelsea and Jane's classes are not going to the farm next
week.
School Activities:
-
All non-essential and non-instructional activities will need to be moved
on-line or canceled, including PTA meetings, city-wide PDs, family
conferences, etc. Next week's PTA meeting will be streamed on-line.
Student Learning:
-
Next week, our staff will create a "Learning Continuity Plan" for our
students, both in the case of school closure and in cases where families
choose to keep their child at home. This will be shared with families
later in the week.
Drop-off and Pick-up in the Classrooms:
-
We will not change drop-off/pick-up in the classroom but will stop
asking families to sign-in. We will also extend our arrival time from 8:25
(doors open at 8:23) to 8:45 AM so as to reduce congestion in the
staircases.
Attendance:
-
Please call the office if you choose to keep your child home to reduce
their risk of exposure to COVID-19 so we can code it correctly. The DOE
has created a new code for COVID-19 related absences. This includes
situations when:
-
Students are staying at home with any illness related to COVID-19
(students who are ill should stay home).
-
Students who have returned from COVID-19-affected areas and are
self-quarantined.
-
Students who are absent due to exposure to COVID-19 and possess a
doctor’s note.
-
Families/caregivers who choose to keep students home in an effort to
reduce their child’s risk of exposure to COVID-19.
I will reach as related information becomes available and will communicate
our plan for learning for any student not attending school next week.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Warmly,
Dyanthe
