[TNS-list] District 1 CEC Resolution on State Testing

Hi All,

With help from TNS parent Jon Grabelle Herrmann, a member of the District 1
Community Education Council (CEC), the D1 CEC last night passed the
following resolution:

*Resolution: New York State Leaders Must Stop Using State Tests to Punish
Schools and Parents*

Please read this statement, share it with your networks, and stay tuned for
further actions in support of TNS and other schools with high opt-out
numbers (such as The Earth School and CPEII) that are being punished by the
state in contravention of the parental right to opt children out of state
testing.

Also, please know that this resolution would not have been possible without
broad support from other D1 parents and schools. We are lucky to have their
solidarity and support.

Relatedly, the D1 CEC passed two other strong resolutions last night:

*Resolution: New York State Must Implement New Forms of Revenue to Prevent
School Budget Cuts*

In such chaotic, distressing, and turbulent times, I'm thankful for our CEC
allies.
