Dear Parents,

This has been a painful of days, weeks, months, and years of the brutal treatment of our families simply because of their skin color, speak a different language, of religion and/or look different. George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Tony McDade lost their lives to police violence. People are attacked because a Black jogger is seen as a thief, an Asian person is accused of bringing a virus into a city, a person speaking Spanish or Bengali or Arabic is thought to be a suspicious threat. WHY!

There must be a change in our society. We as a people must pull together because it’s everyone’s human right to be recognized, respected, and safe in this world.

Join Alice and I this Friday, June 5th to our “GET TOGETHER” to talk about what is happening in our communities or if you want to talk about something else that is in your mind that is O.K. too.

Join us on Friday, June 5th at 2 – 3 PM at meet.google.com/dqs-nzue-yjk

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote an OpEd in the Los Angeles Times on Saturday.

"I don't want to see stores looted or even buildings burn, but African Americans have been living in a burning building for many years, choking on the smoke as the flames burn closer and closer. Racism in America is like dust in the air. It seems invisible – even if you're choking on it – until you let the sun in. Then you see it's everywhere. As long as we keep shining that light, we have a chance of cleaning it wherever it lands. But we have to stay vigilant, because it's always still in the air."

With Love and Be Well!
