Hi TNS families,

Here's the agenda for the upcoming PTA General Meeting next Thursday, 4/18, at 8:30 in the PTA room:

  2.  President updates (8:35 - 9:10)
     *   Library
     *   Auction
     *   PTA mission statement
  3.  School Food advocate and speaker: Andrea Strong (8:45 - 9:00)
  4.  Events/committee updates (9:00 - 9:10)
     *   Movie night, 5/3
     *   Garden/eco/wellness event, 5/9
     *   Restaurant night, 5/14
     *   Diversity: Cookbook and Rice 'n Rhythm, 5/22
  5.  Treasurer's report/budget outlook (9:10 - 9:30)

During the meeting, the PTA Presidents will share a new PTA mission statement drafted to help clarify the purpose of the PTA and the priorities for fundraising, and we'll discuss. I've included it below, for those who want to review it ahead of time.

Mission Statement of the PTA of The Neighborhood School


The Neighborhood School PTA is committed to:

  *   Supporting educational enrichment programs that educate the whole child;

  *   Augmenting classroom resources and professional development trainings for our teachers; and

  *   Prioritizing a positive, welcoming, inclusive community atmosphere for all TNS families.

We believe that our diverse, socially-minded student body is at the heart of our school. We are committed to supporting programs that foster social and environmental awareness, experiential learning, inclusivity, and physical and emotional wellness for our children and their families. We recognize the importance of environmental education and true nature experiences for New York City children. Our fundraising efforts are targeted to support those programs, supplies, resources, and trainings most in line with this mission.
