Dear Neighborhood School Families,
This Friday is a half-day. Dismissal is at 11:35am. Please note that The
STAR Academy does not have a half-day and so the yard will closed until
3:00pm. Families and children may not use the yard before 3:00. Both
Wingspan and University Settlement will be open. Please reach out to Matt
or Greg to sign your child up!
The completion date for construction on our building has been extended
(again). Although the School Construction Authority (SCA) has not given us
a new date, I have been informed it will be completed by the summer.
Mark your Calendars:
-
Laurie, Dianne & Shaquawn, Dara, Erin, Jane, Laura & Michiko and Alexis
& Corinthia’s classes go ice skating this Wednesday.
-
Our March PTA Meeting is Thursday at 8:40 in the PTA Room.
-
Thursday night is TNS Family Movie Night! We will screen “Inside Out.”
Doors open at 5pm and the movie starts at 5:30pm. Tickets, Pizza, Popcorn
& Drinks are $1.
-
Together with the Earth School, we are excited to share a screening of
the highly acclaimed documentary about the vital importance of maintaining
inquiry based and whole child education, Beyond Measure, in which the
Institute for Collaborative Education (ICE Middle and High School) is
featured. Following the screening will be an interactive discussion! The
event begins at 2pm on Saturday at the Earth School. Childcare will be
provided.
-
Our Testing Forum is Wednesday, March 23 at 8:30am in the auditorium. This
is a follow-up from our last advocacy meeting about assessment at TNS: how
we “measure” learning. Most of the meeting will be Q&A, but 3rd - 5th
grade teachers, members of the Advocacy Committee and I will give some
context to the discussion first.
Have a great week,
Dyanthe
