Hi everybody,

Thanks for bearing with us while we work out the a new arrival sign-in
procedure.

At the Neighborhood School, the presence and participation of parents is a
fundamental part our educational and community-building approach. Because
of security concerns, it is very rare to find such open access among other
schools in the city. The goal behind these new procedures is to keep an
open and welcoming atmosphere for families while also meeting our
obligation to account for every adult who is allowed to go beyond the lobby
of the building. The doors are still open. Things are just a bit more
secure.

Here's the plan for arrival sign-in as it stands now.

   - Families who are bringing their children upstairs will sign in at the
table between the posts in the lobby.
   - If you're dropping a child off to a classroom on the 3rd street side
of the building, you'll sign in on that side of the table and will go up
   stairway E.
   - If you're dropping a child off to a classroom on the 4th street side
of the building, you'll sign in on that side of the table and will go up
   stairway G.
   - Parents and caregivers who will be bringing children upstairs can *sign
in as soon as you arrive* so that we don't create a bottleneck at 8:25.

We'll continue to tweak this plan as necessary, and I'll put out a more
detailed letter shortly.

Thanks for your cooperation and flexibility.

Milo
