[TNS-list] Testing Resolution

Hello Neighborhood school Families,
Below is the copy of The Resolution on Pre-K-2nd Testing  created by  
the Time Out from Testing organization and passed by the Neighborhood  
School Leadership team.  We are joining the other elementary schools  
in NYC who are doing the same. We plan to inform the DOE that we  
stand together on this issue.

RESOLUTION


OUR SCHOOL WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY NEWLY PROPOSED MANDATORY  
STANDARDIZED TESTING FOR PRE K-2ND GRADERS.


WE ARE NOT OPPOSED TO GIFTED & TALENTED TESTING FOR THOSE PARENTS WHO  
WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEIR CHILDREN TESTED.

HOWEVER, THIS SHOULD BE DONE OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL, BY PROFESSIONALS  
TRAINED IN TESTING, NOT BY TEACHERS.

  NO SCHOOL FUNDS SHOULD BE USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF GIVING THE
              NEWLY PRPOSED TESTS.

G & T TESTING SHOULD IN ALL CASES BE OPTIONAL, NOT MANDATED.

TESTING SUCH YOUNG CHILDREN IS ILL ADVISED BY NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED  
EARLY CHILDHOOD EXERTS.
